THE DANCE SCHOLARSHIP TRUST Registered Charity No. 802135 THE SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF ANCIENT BUILDINGS 37 Spital Square, London E1 6DY |

About me
· I am a Chartered Surveyor and have been a SPAB member since early 1990s. · Previous work includes repairs for The National Trust at Dunster Castle and repairs of scheduled ancient monuments for Exmoor National Park Authority on Exmoor. · My chief interests are historic plain glass, traditional carpentry repairs, limestone conservation and lime burning in the South West. · Having lived in Somerset for the last few years I am about to emigrate to New Zealand with my family to start work in a conservation practice on South Island. |

Why do I want to raise money for the Trust?
Simply put, I see the scholarship as the single greatest opportunity available to building professionals to learn in nine months substantially more about the care of historic buildings than most will learn in a lifetime. To anyone with a passion and enthusiasm for the conservation of our cultural heritage a place on the scholarship has no equal.
The biggest regret of my professional life is that I let the opportunity pass me by! However, I hope that I can help the future funding of the scholarship and encourage others to make the most of their love of historic buildings.
What I am aiming to do
I intend to compete in a minimum of four events between 2008 and the end of 2011. I have completed the following running events:
· The Gower Peninsular Coastal Trail Marathon on 06 December 2008. · The Portland Bill Coastal Trail Marathon on 31 January 2009. · The Bath Half-Marathon (13.1 mile run) in March 2009.
Once we are settled in New Zealand I will think about entering:
· The Challenge Wanaka Triathlon in 2011. · Speight's Coast to Coast in 2011.
All the this depends upon my entries being accepted – if not, I will aim to find substitutes. |
